D3 Classic Rating

Yesterday I did my D3 Classic Pony Club Rating.  We passed with flying colors.  It was very fun!  The best part was the stadium and cross country jumping.  It was much higher than the D2 standard of 18".  I rode Kerry, and he was a good boy.

Good and Bad news

On October 1st, Wyatt left to go to his new home.  A western lady needed a good horse to ride with her boyfriend, and she was friends with my trainer, so my trainer mentioned that Wyatt was for sale and that he had won many AQHA awards in reining(which is actually true).  She loved the description, and it went on from there.

I am not terribly sad that Wyatt was sold and is now gone.  This is because I know that he enjoys reining much more than jumping( he is also very good at it) and he will also have a buddy horse he can hang out with (the boyfriend has a horse).  But, don't get me wrong I am still a little bummed that Wyatt is leaving and I would rather him stay at Indian Hills.  It is just that I am not extremely sad because he is leaving for the better.

On the brighter side,  I found a horse that I could buy!  His name is Kerry, and he is a 16hh bay imported Australian Thoroughbred that is a prelim. eventer!  He is extremely tolerant and mellow.  I love him a lot.  He is currently on trial. He has 4 equal socks and a starstrip and a separate snip.

Recap on the Summer

Now that summer is over, I would like to remember all of the cool horse related stuff I did during summer!

Eventful Acres

HC Equestrian(my riding club) went to Eventful Acres.  It is a great ranch with numerous cross country courses.Wyatt and I did cross country for the first time!  It was also my first camping trip.  We got to campout with the horses at night, and do cross country in the day!  I learned how to do stable bandages.  All the kids got to do fun games!  We rode bareback in the night, and jumped the cross country jumps barefoot.  I loved Eventful acres soo much, but sadly, it was only three days long.

* I currently don't have any pictures of me in this event*

Lone Tree Hunter Pace and Vista Del Rio

After Eventful Acres, my instructor thought that I was ready to go to the Lone Tree Hunter Pace!  It is a schooling show on a cross county course in which the competitor tries to finish the course at the optimum time.  The competitor who is closest to the optimum time wins! There were fun pairs and singles classes at different heights and paces.  I did an 18"-2' class with a slow canter speed and a 2'-2'3" class with a canter speed.  I also did those same exact classes with my twin sister as a pair too.  It was so much fun!  It was very laid back, but extremely popular!  There were at least forty people in each class!  Many people didn't even get a ribbon, but I did!  My sister and I had placed first in our 2'-2'3" pairs class!  We were very happy and even got gift bags! It was too amazing that I can't even describe the feeling!  I was very pleased!  Heehee =) Yaya!
P.S. It was my second time ever doing x-country
P.P.S. the pics from Wyatt! post are from the Lone Tree Hunter Pace
USPC Pony Club Championships

Earlier this year, I had gone to the Mid-Cal Regional Quiz Rally and had qualified or the championships!  I was soo excited! My twin sister, Emily(my best friend from school), Tori( Emily's barn friend), and me, made up  the Mid Cal Junior D Quiz team!  We would all be traveling to Washington for this, so we all knew that this was a big deal, and winning would be the inly way to make this trip worth it.  We all took action, and studied every spare minute we had for the highest point questions, together or apart, and guess what! WE WON THE USPC PONY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS!  We totally whooped the other teams (we beat the 2nd place team by over 100 points!).  We were the most prepared, and we always asked for the highest point questions!  It totally paid off!

P.S. My sister got the highest indidvidual score of all of the teams, even the older teams in higher levels!  I got the second highest score(not out of everyone though). =)

Gavilan Chapter Dressage Show

School had just started a week or two ago. meh... The only bright side to this time was the Gavilan Chapter Dressage Show was then!  I had worked very hard with Wyatt and his head-throwing problem so I could enter this show and do tests Introductory Level Test C and Training Level Test 1.  This show was rated, so it was more serious than the other schooling shows that I had taken part in, but it was still very fun.  I ended up with a 70 percent in Intro level Test C and a score in the mid-60s Training Level Test 1.  I placed second in both classes to my twin sister.  I had a great time!

The summer was great and I had a fun time!  I hope that my next summer is like this one!

Happy riding!

Wyatt!!!

Wyatt is my lease horse.  He is a chesnut Quarter Horse with the cutest markings ever!  He has a blaze and white on all four of his legs.

Things about Wyatt:

Wyatt is very lovable and sweet!  He always nickers or does a little neigh when he sees me and he loves to be told that he is a good boy!

Wyatt is a blast to ride! He can jump up to 3'6" and is decent at dressage.  I call him decent at dressage because he has had some incorrect training in his past and likes to have his head high in the air and his back hollow, but he is getting better at not doing it now and being round instead.

The one thing that I don't enjoy about him is that he likes to rush fences and bolt away after them.
It is very annoying because you have to constantly tell him to slow down.  He will only not do that when he is in the open or doing cross country.  For some reason he is always a lot better behaved outside and in a new place.

Wyatt has "okay" ground manners.  He will clip and tie, but he will always fidget in them, making it      very hard to wrap his legs or put on boots.  He will also try to nip you when you curry him because his skin is sensitive and doesn't like the feel of a curry.

My sister and I got first place in a pairs class!
                                                               It was soo much fun!!!!
Wyatt is tired after jumping some big logs.
Good Boy Wyatt!

I will be making some more posts about Wyatt so stay tuned!

Love you Wyatt!  <3
